Building a New VPMVirtual Portfolio Manager Classic Portfolio

To build a new VPMVirtual Portfolio Manager Classic portfolio:

  1. Click Px watchlist 0000.png from the Portfolio List view (screenshot) to open the portfolio wizard. Or click File from the Main Menu Bar and select New Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. Click the VPMVirtual Portfolio Manager Classic button (screenshot).
  3. Create New Portfolio Wizard page: Outlines the steps involved in building a VPMVirtual Portfolio Manager Classic portfolio. Click the Next button to get started (screenshot).
  4. Name Your Portfolio page: Enter a Name and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  5. Inception Date page: Enter an Inception Date and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  6. Starting Equity page: Enter a Starting Equity amount and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  7. Minimum Transaction page: Enter the Minimum Transaction amount and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  8. Activity and Liquidity page: Select an Activity / Liquidity value from the drop-down list and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  9. Average Transaction Fee page: Enter a Transaction Fee amount (leave at 0 if not applicable) and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  10. Management Fees/Billing Cycle page: Enter an annual Management Fee percent (leave at 0 if not applicable) and select a Billing Cycle frequency from the drop-down list, then click the Next button (screenshot).
  11. Portfolio Symbols page: Add Symbols and Symbol Manual Controls, then click the Next button (screenshot).
    1. Adding a Symbol
      1. Enter ticker symbols into the Symbol Entry box separated by spaces or commas — not a combination of BOTH (screenshot). Or copy/paste ticker symbols from a spreadsheet (screenshot).
      2. Select a VPMVirtual Portfolio Manager Trade System from the drop-down list (screenshot).
      3. Click the Add Symbols button (screenshot).

      Light bulb 256.png Symbols found in the database will appear in the Current Portfolio Symbols table. Symbols not found in the database will remain in the Symbol Entry box (screenshot).

    2. Removing a Symbol
      1. Click the symbol to be removed from the Current Portfolio Symbols table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected symbol (screenshot).
    3. Adding a Symbol Manual Control
      1. Click a symbol from the Current Portfolio Symbols table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click Px watchlist 00.png from the Symbol Manual Controls table (screenshot).
      3. Set the Effective Date and Action Type for the new manual control (screenshot).
      4. Click the Add button (screenshot).
    4. Removing a Symbol Manual Control
      1. Click the symbol with the manual control to be removed from the Current Portfolio Symbols table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click the manual control to be removed from the Symbol Manual Control table to select it (screenshot).
      3. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected manual control (screenshot).
    5. Importing Stop / Starts
      1. Click Px portfolio 00.png from the Current Portfolio Symbols table (screenshot).
      2. Locate and select the stop/starts CSV file to be imported (screenshot).
      3. Click the Open button (screenshot).
    6. Light bulb 256.png For a stop/starts CSV file to be imported successfully it must exactly match with the securities and trading system/model contained in the portfolio at the time of import.

    7. Exporting Stop / Starts
      1. Click Px portfolio 000.png from the Current Portfolio Symbols table (screenshot).
      2. Select a save location and name the stop/starts CSV file by either keeping the default name or entering a new name (screenshot).
      3. Click the Save button (screenshot).
  12. Initial Allocation Factor page: Set an Initial Allocation Factor using the recommended value or enter your own (screenshot).
  13. Click the Finish button to save the portfolio (screenshot).

Building a New vDASVirtual Dynamic Allocation Strategy Portfolio

To build a new vDASVirtual Dynamic Allocation Strategy portfolio:

  1. Click Px watchlist 0000.png from the Portfolio List view (screenshot) to open the portfolio wizard. Or click File from the Main Menu Bar and select New Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. Click the vDASVirtual Dynamic Allocation Strategy button (screenshot).
  3. Create New Portfolio Wizard page: Outlines the steps involved in building a vDASVirtual Dynamic Allocation Strategy portfolio. Click the Next button to get started (screenshot).
  4. Name Your Portfolio page: Enter a Name and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  5. Inception Date page: Enter an Inception Date and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  6. Starting Equity page: Enter a Starting Equity amount and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  7. Average Transaction Fee page: Enter a Transaction Fee amount (leave at 0 if not applicable) and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  8. Management Fees/Billing Cycle page: Enter an annual Management Fee percent (leave at 0 if not applicable) and select a Billing Cycle frequency from the drop-down list, then click the Next button (screenshot).
  9. Add Asset Categories to Your Portfolio page: Enter an Asset Category Name and Asset Category Description, click the Add Asset Category button, and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  10. Light bulb 256.png To remove a previously added asset category, select it from the Asset Categories table, click Px watchlist 000.png and then click the Yes button to confirm removal (screenshot).

  11. Portfolio Symbols page: Add Symbols and Symbol Manual Controls, then click the Next button (screenshot).
    1. Adding a Symbol

    3. Adding a Symbol Manual Control
      1. Click a symbol from the Current Portfolio Symbols table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Set Asset Category, Min %, and Max % values for the initial manual control from the Symbol Manual Controls table (screenshot).
      3. Steps 3–5 only applicable when adding an additional symbol manual control

      4. Click Px watchlist 00.png from the Symbol Manual Control table (screenshot).
      5. Set Effective Date, Action Type, Asset Category, Min %, and Max % values for the new manual control (screenshot).
      6. Click the Add button (screenshot).

      Light bulb 256.png After a manual control has been added the Asset Category, Min %, and Max % values must be edited inline from the Symbol Manual Control table.

    4. Removing a Symbol Manual Control
      1. Click the symbol with the manual control to be removed from the Current Portfolio Symbols table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click the manual control to be removed from the Symbol Manual Control table to select it (screenshot).
      3. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected manual control (screenshot).
    5. Importing Stop / Starts
      1. Click Px portfolio 00.png from the Current Portfolio Symbols table (screenshot).
      2. Locate and select the stop/starts CSV file to be imported (screenshot).
      3. Click the Open button (screenshot).
    6. Light bulb 256.png For a stop/starts CSV file to be imported successfully it must exactly match with the securities and trading system/model contained in the portfolio at the time of import.

    7. Exporting Stop / Starts
      1. Click Px portfolio 000.png from the Current Portfolio Symbols table (screenshot).
      2. Select a save location and name the stop/starts CSV file by either keeping the default name or entering a new name (screenshot).
      3. Click the Save button (screenshot).
  12. Min Cash Reserves page: Add minimum cash reserves to the portfolio (defaults to 2% if none added) and then click the Next button (screenshot).
    1. Adding a Cash Reserve
      1. Enter a Min Reserve % value (screenshot).
      2. Enter an Effective Date (screenshot).
      3. Click the Add Cash Reserve button (screenshot).
    2. Removing a Cash Reserve
      1. Click the cash reserve to be removed from the Cash Reserve Effective Dates table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected cash reserve (screenshot).
      3. Click the Yes button to confirm removal (screenshot).
  13. Level Verification page: Verify no Min Total or Max Total exceeds 100% and then click the Next button (screenshot).
  14. Light bulb 256.png If a total exceeds 100% (designated in red), click the Back button to return to the Portfolio Symbols Page and adjust manual control min/max values as necessary (screenshot).

  15. Portfolio Manual Rebalances Page: Add manual rebalances to the portfolio (screenshot).
    1. Adding a Manual Rebalance
      1. Enter an Effective Date for the manual rebalance (screenshot).
      2. Click the Add Rebalance Date button (screenshot).
    2. Removing a Manual Rebalance
      1. Click the manual rebalance to be removed from the Rebalnce Dates table to select it (screenshot).
      2. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected manual rebalance (screenshot).
      3. Click the Yes button to confirm removal (screenshot).
  16. Click the Finish button to save the portfolio (screenshot).

Editing a Portfolio

To edit a portfolio:

  1. Right mouse click a portfolio from the Portfolio List view and select Edit Portfolio to open the portfolio edit wizard (screenshot). Or select a portfolio and then click Edit from the Main Menu Bar and select Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. Refer to either the Building a New VPM Classic Portfolio or Building a New vDAS Portfolio section for the remaining steps depending on what type of portfolio is being edited.

Deleting a Portfolio

To delete a portfolio:

  1. Select a portfolio from the Portfolio List view (screenshot).
  2. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected portfolio (screenshot).
  3. Click the Yes button to confirm removal of the selected portfolio (screenshot).
  4. OR

  1. Right mouse click a portfolio and select Delete Portfolio(s) (screenshot).
  2. Click the Yes button to confirm removal of the selected portfolio (screenshot).

Light bulb 256.png Once a portfolio has been deleted it cannot be restored.

Cloning a Portfolio

To clone a portfolio:

  1. Right mouse click a portfolio from the Portfolio List view and select either Clone Portfolio or Clone Portfolio as Buy Hold (screenshot).
  2. Name the portfolio clone by either keeping the default name or entering a new name (screenshot).
  3. Click the Finish button to run the portfolio clone (screenshot).

Reverting a Portfolio

To revert a portfolio back to a prior revision:

  1. Right mouse click a portfolio from the Portfolio List view and select Revert Portfolio (screenshot). Or select a portfolio and then click Edit from the Main Menu Bar and select Revert Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. Click the arrow to the left of a portfolio name to display the available revisions (screenshot).
  3. Select the revision to be reverted. Review the Revision Change Details if necessary (screenshot).
  4. Click the Revert to Selected Revision button (screenshot).
  5. Click the Yes button to confirm reverting to the selected revision (screenshot).
  6. Click the Finish button to close the Portfolio Revisions window (screenshot).

Allocating a Portfolio

To allocate or rerun a portfolio:

  1. Right mouse click a portfolio from the Portfolio List view and select Allocate Portfolio(s) (screenshot).
  2. Click the OK button (screenshot).

Subscribing to a Premier Portfolio and/or User Portfolio

To subscribe to a Premier Portfolio and/or User Portfolio:

  1. Click Edit from the Main Menu Bar and select Portfolio Subscriptions to open the portfolio subscription wizard (screenshot).
  2. Premier Portfolio Subscriptions page:

  3. Click the Subscribe column of the Premier Portfolio to be subscribed (screenshot). Or click the Subscribe All Portfolios box to subscribe to all the Premier Portfolios (screenshot).
  4. Click the Send Order Email column to receive order emails for the selected Premier Portfolio (screenshot). Or click the Send Order Email All Portfolios box to receive order emails for all the Premier Portfolios (screenshot).
  5. Click the Finish button to save the Premier Portfolio subscription selection(s) and close the wizard (screenshot).
  6. OR

  1. Click the Next button to subscribe to a User Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. User Portfolio Subscriptions page:

  3. Enter or paste the UUID of the User Portfolio to be subscribed into the text box (screenshot).
  4. Click the Add Portfolio UUID button (screenshot).
  5. Click the box in the Send Order Email column to receive order emails (screenshot).
  6. Click the Finish button to save the Premier Portfolio/User Portfolio subscription(s) and close the wizard (screenshot).

Unsubscribing to a Premier Portfolio and/or User Portfolio

To unsubscribe to a Premier Portfolio and/or User Portfolio:

  1. Click Edit from the Main Menu Bar and select Portfolio Subscriptions to open the portfolio subscription wizard (screenshot).
  2. Premier Portfolio Subscriptions page:

  3. Click the Px query 000.png in the Subscribe column of the Premier Portfolio subscription to be removed (screenshot). Or, if checked, click the Subscribe All Portfolios box to unsubscribe to all of the Premier Portfolios (screenshot).
  4. Click the Finish button to save the Premier Portfolio subscription removal(s) and close the wizard (screenshot)
  5. OR

  1. Click the Next button to unsubscribe to a User Portfolio (screenshot).
  2. User Portfolio Subscriptions page:

  3. Select the portfolio to be removed from the Current User Portfolio Subscriptions table (screenshot).
  4. Click Px watchlist 000.png to remove the selected User Portfolio (screenshot).
  5. Click the Finish button to save the Premier Portfolio/User Portfolio subscription removal(s) and close the wizard (screenshot).
